Image format for PSSCC competitions

Dave Casey and Don Munsil have put together a complete digital projection system, including a portable PC and two projectors.

For ideal viewing, here’s how to prepare and submit your images for digital projection:

  • The format for images is side-by-side, parallel (left image on the left) with no border or margin. Any size is fine; they do not need to be resized to fit the projectors.
  • For advanced users, it may provide a slight visual benefit to resize the images so they fit on a 1920×1080 screen exactly, then sharpen and adjust for that resolution. Borders or padding are not required; it’s enough to make either the height 1080 and the width 1920 or less, or the width 1920 and the height 1080 or less. This is not required, and if you don’t know how to do this, do not bother.
  • Videos can be in any common codec, but AVC (H.264), VC-1, and XVid are preferred. Side-by-side or over-under are both fine. Resolutions of up to 1920x1080x2 can be handled, but be aware that very high resolution or very high bitrate video may stutter somewhat.
  • Put your images and/or videos on a flash drive and bring it to the club meeting.
